Yoga Effect Inspires Generations

October 2023 Visit to Mariposa DR Center for Girls

In a week of connection and well-being, Yoga Effect made a visit to the Mariposa DR Center for Girls in the Dominican Republic in October 2023. This collaboration, which began in January 2018 when Yoga Effect first funded yoga classes at the center, has continued to thrive, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of the girls under the guidance of instructor Lorena Medina Bournigal.

During this special week, Yoga Effect representative Gina Dyer not only supervised but actively participated in the yoga classes led by Lorena. The visit coincided with Parents Week at the center, providing a unique opportunity for the girls' parents to join them in the transformative practice of yoga.

Parents were invited to participate in the yoga classes alongside their daughters, gaining insights into the meditation and breathwork techniques taught by Lorena. These additional elements of the practice equipped both the girls and their parents with valuable tools to navigate stress and discomfort in their daily lives.

Gina Dyer, reflecting on the week, expressed the joy of witnessing the intergenerational impact of yoga. "It's incredible to see families coming together through yoga. The parents not only learned alongside their daughters but also gained an understanding of how these practices contribute to overall well-being," said Gina.
