Giving Tuesday & Yoga Effect - Gina's Story

For me, it is not simply about girls and yoga. It is about doing something to help promote opportunity.

During a handful of service trips to the Dominican Republic, I met some Dominican and Haitian girls and recognized that their opportunities are severely limited simply by the fact that they were born on the island of Hispaniola.

Most of them don't have regular electricity, indoor plumbing - Way too many of them start their own families as teenagers.

I was looking for a way that I could help even the playing field a bit and came up with yoga. We (my Yoga Effect Partner- Georgia Brown and I) started by partnering with the Mariposa DR Foundation because they are a well established and proven organization that works with marginalized girls in the DR.

Yoga Effect is small, but we are growing. Next, we will provide the opportunity of yoga and the wellness that it brings to some kids in Colorado.

Our second annual fundraiser is just over 30% of its goal! Thank you very much to everyone who has supported this effort!
